Family films shown for people with autism, special needs

Sep 27, 2014

AMC Entertainment and the Autism Society have teamed for special film screenings for those affected by autism and other disabilities---what they call Sensory Friendly Films.

In order to provide a more accepting and comfortable setting, the movie theaters will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down, families will be able to take their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks, and no previews or advertisements will be shown. And, audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout, or sing.

Next up is "Dolphin Tale 2" on September 27, shown in Las Vegas at the AMC Rainbow Promenade, starting at 10 a.m. That's at 2321 North Rainbow Boulevard. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased on the day. More about the screenings and a list of theaters participating is here.
