Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge is about 1.5 hours drive west of Las Vegas. It's noted for its seeps and hot springs, and has at least 26 plants and animals found no place else on earth, the highest concentration of endemic plants and animals in the entire United States. They have hikes/programs once in a while.
