Help protect Nevada's archaeological sites

Mar 30, 2015

Nevada's prehistoric and historic archaeological sites are being vandalized and looted. So, the State Historic Preservation Office is seeking to increase its number of volunteers, especially in rural areas, to help fight this problem.

Site Stewards attend a free seven hour class covering historic preservation and archaeological laws, site etiquette and safety. Then, four hours of field training. Volunteers visit their site at least four times a year and report their findings to the archaeologist for the public lands agency managing the area.
